New Delhi, Jun 23 (KNN) West Bengal government has set up around 152 micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) clusters in the state to generate over four lakh jobs, according to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

“Over the three years of our government, more than 35,000 new units in the sector of MSME had been set up in West Bengal, providing employment to almost 3,20,000 people,” she said on Sunday.

On a social media, Banerjee said her party manifesto had committed to launch a massive cluster development drive across the state to give the MSME sector a new trajectory of growth.

She said her government has formed more than its initial target of just 17 MSME clusters to generate more employment opportunities in the state.

The government’s synergy with various departments in order to help entrepreneurs had been yielding results, she added.

The West Bengal MSME policy aims to increase the ancillary and vendor linkage of MSME with the government, facilitating the process supported by a public procurement policy.

Cluster development and regional innovation approach are the thrust areas supported by additional flow of funds and other fiscal interventions. (KNN/ST)
