“Ninety nine per cent of traders are honest and want to pay their taxes,”Kejriwal said in his reply to the confidence motion sought by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government in the Delhi Assembly yesterday.
“Our system is such that the traders are considered to be thugs. The government looks upon every trader as if he is a thug,” he added.
What traders plead is, “Please take the tax from us and leave us alone so that we can do our business peacefully,” Kejriwal further said adding that the entire system for the businessmen willing to pay tax and work peacefully needs to be simplified and streamlined.
AAP yesterday won the confidence vote with the support of eight Congress MLAs. In the 70 member Assembly, the AAP won 28 seats.
