After investing heavily on Plant & Machinery, Jammu’s new MSMEs have no business to do without power connection

Jammu, Mar 30 (KNN) The micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Jammu from the Bari Brahmana Industrial Area, who have set up new units in the region and have invested heavily on Plants & Machinery, have no business to do as of now due to no power connections.

The ground reality of ease of doing business in the state is one of the reasons for the halt.

The Power Department has failed to provide new connections to the units despite government’s clear instruction to hold regular monthly meetings in order to clear the pending cases of Power Sanctions.

Upset with this, the members of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) held a meeting today under the Presidentship of its Chairman Lalit Mahajan to discuss the problem.

The members raised concerns over the problems faced by member units in respect of delay in the sanction of new Power Connections of the Industrial Units by the Designated Committee.

They highlighted that the Designated Committee Meeting for sanction of new Power Connection of the Industrial Units is pending since December 2016 in the region.

This, BBIA said, has thrown unit holders out of business after they have invested crores of rupees in Plant and Machinery.

The MSME unit holders, who are already burdened with the bank credit, have to sit idle due to non-release of Power Connections applied long back in spite of Power Load available at Bari Brahmana Grid Station resulting into huge financial loss to State exchequer.

“It is pertinent to mention here that as per the Government’s Order in 2011, regular monthly meetings should be held to clear the pending cases of Power Sanction where as the department has failed to honour the Government Order. This shows the casual attitude of the Power Development Department for the development of Industrial Sector in our State,” BBIA said.

The association has urged Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh, who is also the Power Minister, to intervene into this matter and issue necessary orders to concerned officials for the sanction of new Power Connections to the unit holders. This will help the start their units. (KNN Bureau)
