Rajasthan Govt Signs Clean Energy Pact With International Solar Alliance

Jaipur, Jul 10 (KNN) The Rajasthan government has signed a framework agreement with the International Solar Alliance (ISA) to advance clean energy and sustainable development, becoming the first Indian state to enter into such a partnership with the 128-member body.

The agreement was signed by Rajasthan’s Energy Secretary Aarti Dogra and ISA Director General Ashish Khanna in the presence of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, ET reported.

Comprehensive Plan for Solar Expansion

The framework outlines the preparation of a detailed roadmap for the expansion, transmission and distribution of solar energy in the state.

It also covers areas such as grid modernisation, energy storage, efficiency measures, demand management, energy modelling, institutional capacity building and policy reforms.

The state government said the partnership is expected to support Rajasthan’s transition towards renewable energy and strengthen its overall clean energy ecosystem.

Targets and Ongoing Initiatives

Rajasthan’s Integrated Clean Energy Policy aims to develop 125 GW of clean energy capacity. Under the PM-KUSUM scheme, over 4 GW of solar capacity is already providing daytime electricity to farmers across 26 districts.

As part of the agreement, an energy transition plan for the period 2030–35 will be prepared.

The state also plans to introduce AI-based digitalisation initiatives, including a pilot project using digital twin technology in Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam to improve demand forecasting, network planning and renewable energy integration.

During a review meeting, the Chief Minister directed officials to speed up the rollout of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and asked the Chief Secretary to closely monitor its progress.
