Noida, May 11 (KNN) After the UP Pollution Control Board issued notices to as many as 20 polluting industrial units asking them to shift from solid fuel to Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in four months, the industrialists, who belong to the MSME sector, are demanding for subsidy from the state government.

The industrialists have urged the state government to provide subsidy to them for installation of Gen sets in their units to run on Piped Natural Gas (PNG).

Talking to KNN, The President of Noida Entrepreneurs Association (NEA) Vipin Malhan said that around 7000 units in Noida are running on the diesel Generators. “If UPPCB wants us to shift on PNG, then the Government has to provide us with the subsidy for installation of new gen sets which costs around Rs. 20-25 Lakh each.”

However, he said that the industry will follow the norms decided by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

He also said that until or unless meeting won’t take place with the administration, nobody can reach to a hard conclusion.

The units which have been served the notices are located in Noida’s Phase-I, II and III areas and are mostly engaged in dyeing of garments and making carton boxes. They use coal for operations which causes pollution.

The President said that the discussion on this matter is on at a very high level and the result would likely come soon. (KNN Bureau)
