Andhra Pradesh Seeks Greater Centre-State Collaboration in Biotechnology

New Delhi, Apr 1 (KNN) Andhra Pradesh’s Health Minister, Y. Satya Kumar, met Union Minister Jitendra Singh in the national capital, seeking enhanced collaboration in the field of biotechnology.

The discussions aimed at expanding biotechnology-related projects in the state and strengthening ongoing initiatives with central support.

Expressing gratitude for the Modi government’s assistance, Satya Kumar highlighted the state’s commitment to utilising biotechnology for advancements in healthcare and industrial applications.

He emphasised the need for greater cooperation to integrate cutting-edge innovations into Andhra Pradesh’s biotech ecosystem.

Jitendra Singh assured full support from the Centre, reaffirming biotechnology as a priority sector under the present administration.

He underscored its transformative potential in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and sustainable startups, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a key player in driving such advancements.

Over the years, Andhra Pradesh has made significant strides in biotechnology, particularly in biopharmaceutical research, marine biotechnology, and agricultural biotech solutions.

The state hosts several biotech incubators and research institutions, playing a crucial role in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

Singh noted that initiatives like the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) funding and national biotech missions have accelerated the growth of biotech startups and industry partnerships in Andhra Pradesh.

The renewed push for collaboration aims to further integrate the state into India’s broader biotechnology roadmap.

The meeting comes at a time when India is striving for self-reliance in biotechnology while expanding its global footprint in research and innovation.

As Andhra Pradesh seeks to strengthen its biotech ecosystem, the discussions signal a fresh impetus to Centre-State collaboration in this high-growth sector.
