AP to house 100 incubation centres and 5,000 start-ups

Hyderabad, Jul 29 (KNN) The Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, in his blueprint on IT and electronics has proposed “at least one entrepreneur and one IT-literate person from each household in the state.” Also, the state will have a start up village housing 100 incubation centres and 5,000 start-ups.

With a view to boosting the sector, AP government has decided to allot Rs 1,785 crore to IT and electronic sector in the next three to five years.

The state government aims to attract investments up to Rs 50,000 crore by 2020.

While speaking to the media, Andhra Pradesh IT minister Palle Raghunath Reddy said the three missions -- IT, electronics and e-governance -- including innovative capacity building will be created with a budget of Rs 1,785 crore.

Reddy said that the government has decided to attract Rs 12,000 crore in IT sector and Rs 30,000 crore in the electronic sector. The state government aims to create five lakh jobs for youth by 2020.

The state will have a start up village which will house 100 incubation centres and 5,000 start-up companies, Reddy informed and added that the government was planning to replicate the start-up village of Kerala.

The blueprint for IT, electronics and e–governance has been developed with a view to developing AP as an innovative society of global repute, with a focus on enhancing the quality of life of its citizens through high quality education and health care, increased productivity in agriculture and above all by providing good governance.

Reddy said that the state of Andhra Pradesh has been envisioned as the “Sunrise State” owing to the great opportunities it can offer in the IT, electronics and allied industries.

The state government has identified three missions for electronics and IT — innovation, capacity-building and e–governance. Experts in these fields will be appointed as advisors.

The minister also said that the government aims to set up 20 electronic manufacturing clusters (EMCs) in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Vijayawada, Kakinada, and Guntur and 200 industries across the state.

Visakhapatnam will be the main hub for IT development and places like Kakinada, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Anantapur will also see development, he added. (KNN/SD)
