Mumbai, May 16 (KNN) Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), the government's agency for promotion of agri exports, will seriously examine the gaps in infrastructure for farm exporters in the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat.

The authority will study the available infrastructure for facilitating export of these products and will soon be appointing a financial and technical evaluation agency.

“Accordingly, the evaluation agency would need to conduct an assessment of the requirements for assistance to address the gaps in the infrastructure, quality assurance systems, market development, research and development and transport assistance etc. and suggest modifications and/or additions in the scheme components and pattern of assistance for the XII Plan (2012-2017),” said a statement.

Towards this, APEDA is seeking applications from experienced consultancy firms for engagement as a retainer to assist in identification, appraisal, implementation and operation of the agri-infrastructure project proposals received under its Scheme for Infrastructure Development.

The objective of the scheme is to enhance the capability of the Indian exporters of agro products and support them in realizing their export potential. (KNN/ST)
