Artisans should be taught nuances of trade to bypass the middlemen: Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow, Oct 29 (KNN) UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, while addressing an event here on Wednesday, expressed his desire that the artisans be taught the nuances of the trade so that the middlemen are bypassed and the actual benefits reach them.
 
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said that various regions of the state were known world over for their signature handicrafts and cottage industry and that these handicraft items provided livelihood to millions across the state.
 
The state government, he added, was working towards their better training, market and financial aid and also to improve their living standards, so that their financial condition improved and they get a good and carefree working atmosphere.
 
He addressing an event held under the aegis of UP government and the Hand Design Organization jointly.
 
 It may be pointed out here that this organization financial aided by Abhishek Sarraf and Maximiliano Modesti works towards providing training to states artisans, give them certificates later, providing them a market for selling their products and helping in arranging of financial aid to artisans who want to begin their own enterprise.
 
Other than this, the organization would also help in bringing the products in the category of luxury crafts, under the set guidelines of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). This will enable better price for the products and provide the handicrafts from the state a global market.
 
Yadav termed the handicraft artisans born talents and said that they get to show their talent as part of their ancestral traits. Artisans involved in making Benarasi silk sari's, carpets in nearby areas and the world famous Chikan work in Lucknow involve their families while making the products, Yadav pointed out.
 
He also admitted that they have had to face stiff competition in the global market. It was for this reason that the artisans needed to be trained further so that they meet the parameters set by the NSDC.
 
He also expressed hope that the cooperation of the Hand Design Organization will go a long way to benefit the artisans of the state. The Chief Minister also expressed his desire that the artisans be taught the nuances of the trade so that the middlemen are bypassed and the actual benefits reach them.
 
On this occasion, a Saari weaver Sayed-ur-Rehman and other weavers met the Chief Minister and were encouraged by Yadav to work with more dedication in their respective fields.
