BBIA conducts awareness programme on HIV/AIDS for industrial workers

Jammu, Nov 20 (KNN)  To build awareness about HIV/AIDs and ways to prevent the infection, Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has conducted a training programme for its industrial workers.

For the programme conducted on November-18, BBIA received support from J&K State AIDS Prevention and Control Society, Department of Health and Medical Education and J&K State Labour Department, Jammu, according to an official release.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Director Students' Welfare, SKUAST, Jammu, Dr Satya Bakshi who was a resource person for the training programme highlighted the various measures to be adopted by the industrial workers for fighting against HIV/AIDS.

Towards making an ‘AIDS free Jammu and Kashmir’ a power point presentation was made, highlighting measures taken to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS in the State.

In addition, various measures adopted by the J&K State AIDS Prevention and Control Society, for the treatment for AIDS were also highlighted with an appeal to the people of the society to help HIV positive patients to boost their immunity.

The speakers appealed to the people to not ignore such persons but rather provide all possible help to make their lives more comfortable.

Also speaking at the event, Assistant Director, J&K State AIDS Prevention and Control Society, Sabhia Iqbal outlined the mission of the Department to stop the spread of AIDS in the State, while providing all sorts of assistance to AIDS patients.

Others who attended the programme included Deputy Labour Commissioner Jammu, Nitu Gupta, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Samba, Rakesh Arora and Labour Officer Jammu Circle-III, Pawan Bhatti.  (KNN/ES)
