Bihar govt forms policy to promote Jaggery industry in state

Patna, Mar 29 (KNN) With the aim to promote the jaggery industry in state, the Bihar government has formulated a new policy, sugarcane industries department minister Alok Kumar Mehta told the state Legislative Council on Tuesday.
Mehta informed the council that the new policy will provide incentives to sugarcane farmers, encourage small and micro industries and create job opportunities in the Jaggery industry.
The detailed project report (DPR) of the “Bihar state jaggery industries promotion programme” has been included in the fourth agricultural road map, he said while responding to a short-notice question of BJP member Sarvesh Kumar, reported the Hindustan times.
“The programme would be implemented from the next crushing season to ensure sugarcane cultivated by farmers is consumed by local small and micro jaggery industries,” he said.
As per reports, the Bihar sugarcane industries department is also planning to organise an investors’ meet to attract private players in sugar industries. (KNN Bureau)
