Bihar Govt Moves To Revamp MSME Directorate, Draft New Policy

Patna, Jun 26 (KNN) Bihar has initiated a comprehensive restructuring of its micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) directorate and begun drafting a new MSME policy as part of a broader push to transform the state into an industrial growth hub.

The move follows a series of high-level meetings led by Kundan Kumar, Secretary, Bihar Industries Department and Managing Director, Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) and Infrastructure Development Authority (IDA), during an official visit to Hyderabad, TOI reported.

The policy overhaul is aimed at modernising Bihar's industrial ecosystem, accelerating investment and generating large-scale employment under the economic vision of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.

National Best Practices Being Studied

During his visit, Kumar held discussions with Vivek Kumar, Programme Director of the National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Ni-MSME), and Surya Prakash, SED Director of MSME Telangana.

The deliberations focused on adopting national best practices, enhancing institutional capacity and building a sustainable, investment-friendly framework for grassroots entrepreneurship in Bihar.

Diaspora Engagement to Channel Investment

Kumar also met with the Hyderabad chapter of the Bihar Foundation to mobilise Non-Resident Biharis (NRBs) as a source of direct industrial investment.

The meeting was attended by Bihar Foundation Hyderabad chapter chairman Manvendra Mishra, secretary Uttam Yadav and Bihar Association president Hareram Singh, and centred on fostering industrial partnerships and securing diaspora participation in the state's manufacturing push.

"The state government is fully committed to building an agile and conducive ecosystem for entrepreneurship and investment promotion," Kumar said, adding that institutional collaborations in Hyderabad and engagement with the global Bihari diaspora were key steps towards positioning Bihar as a destination for modern industries.
