Gaya, Dec 3 (KNN) In a significant move aimed at curbing migration from Bihar, the Union Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) is set to commence construction of a state-of-the-art technology centre in Gaya.

The initiative, spearheaded by Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, also includes extension centres in Nalanda, Rohtas, Purnia, Darbhanga, and Saran.
Announcing the project on Saturday, Minister Manjhi emphasised the critical role of the technology centre in equipping local youth with technical skills and fostering self-employment.

"This centre will serve as a catalyst for change, providing avenues for skill development and reducing the dependency on out-of-state employment," he remarked.

The decision to relocate the main centre to Gaya follows land availability issues in West Bengal, where it was initially planned.

Union MSME Additional Development Commissioner RK Rai has formally requested the Bihar government to allocate approximately 20 acres of land in Gaya for the project.

A letter to this effect has been sent to Bihar Chief Secretary and the state MSME Joint Director, underscoring the urgency of the matter.

HAM-S national spokesperson Nandlal Manjhi, in a press release, revealed that the Union government has sanctioned Rs 125 crore for the project.

He also highlighted the transformative potential of the technology centres in addressing the state’s unemployment crisis by imparting market-relevant skills.

The establishment of extension centres across five districts further reinforces the government’s commitment to inclusive development.

These satellite centres will extend the benefits of technical training and entrepreneurship programs to a wider demographic, ensuring balanced regional development.

This initiative marks a pivotal step towards enhancing local employment opportunities and fostering economic growth in Bihar.

It aligns with broader national objectives to strengthen rural economies and reduce migration pressures on urban areas.

The technology centre at Gaya is expected to be a hub of innovation and skill-building, creating pathways for sustainable livelihoods and a brighter future for Bihar’s youth.
