CAIT calls for 15-day lockdown in national capital

New Delhi, Apr 19 (KNN) The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has urged Delhi Chief Minister to impose a lockdown for 15 days in the national capital.

It also said that strict measures of checking COVID should be deployed at Airports, Railway Stations, Bus Stand and all borders of Delhi to ensure that no COVID affected person enters Delhi.

''The CAIT said that it is true that the move of lockdown will definitely affect the business and economic activities of Delhi but now life of the people has to be put on the first priority,'' the traders’ body said on Sunday.

CAIT has once again urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to make a concrete plan with districts as the basic fundamental focal point to prevent corona at least in states where COVID is spreading faster.

''This step will be in conformity with the suggestion of Prime Minister Modi to deal COVID at the level of small containment zones,'' it added.

CAIT National President BC Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said that the figures of the last one month are witness that if no concrete and logical break is applied, the COVID is set to explode in Delhi.

Khandelwal further said that in the proposed lock-down, Delhi's trade organizations are fully geared to supply essential commodities to the people living in Delhi and are ready to assist the government in every possible way.  He has also sought a meeting of prominent trade leaders of Delhi with both LG and CM.

''This problem is not only for the government but for every citizen of Delhi and it is a need that the government and responsible citizens should be ready to collectively combat this epidemic based on the PPP model,'' he added.

On March 18, there were 80253 tests in Delhi in which 607 corona cases were discovered and corona positive rate was 0 .76 per cent while on 1st April  78100 tests were conducted in Delhi and 2790 corona cases were found and corona positive rate was 3. 57 per cent, on 8th April, there were 91800 tests and 7437 corona cases were reported and corona positivity rate was 8 .10 per cent and yesterday, on 17 April, there were 99200 tests in Delhi with 24375 corona cases with a corona positive rate of 24.57 per cent. These figures are very frightening and clearly show that Corona in Delhi has taken its formidable form.
