Central Excise Department organizes workshop on GST at Bari Brahmana

New Delhi, May 4 (KNN) The Central Excise Department of Jammu and Kashmir recently organized a workshop on the theme “Overview of GST”. The workshop was organized in collaboration with Bari Brahmana Industries Association.

The main aim of the seminar was to highlight the different compliance rules of the GST, and also to ensure that the Central Excise Assesses as well as VAT assesses can avoid difficulty in migrating to the new tax regime that is expected to roll out from July 1^st.

Key highlights of the event included presentations on single taxation system, its role in reducing the cascading effect of tax both on the tax payer as well as the consumer. Also various provisions for the Industry under the GST were explained.

The Seminar also educated the participants on the setting up of the GST Sevakendra at the Central Excise Department to assist in migrating to the GST.

Last month, the President gave the final nod to the much awaited GST bill. So far six states have passed the GST bill in their respective State Assemblies. These include Bihar, Jharkhand, Telangana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. (KNN/ DA)
