Centre approves projects worth Rs 89.75 crore in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh

New Delhi, Apr 2 (KNN) Centre will provide help worth Rs  89.75 crore  to Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh to develop tourist spots in six cities.   

The project in Maharashtra will involve development of tourism facilities at Pandharpur (a pilgrimage city), Akkalkot, Solapur (known for textile industry) and Tuljapur (known for Tulja Bhavani temple).

In Andhra Pradesh it  will involve development of tourism facilities at Bheemunipatnam (known for Lord Narshimha temple),  Erramattidibbalu, Kailashgiri (a hills and resort site in Visakhapatnam) , Mangamaripeta Beach , Thotlakonda (A hill on the sea coast known for Buddhism pilgrimage), Pavuralakonda , Rushikonda, Bhavikonda  and Beautification of Beach Corridor Circuit (Vishakapatnam- Bheemunipatnam).

The project will be commissioned by Maharashtra in 36 months while it will be commissioned in 18 months in Andhra Pradesh.

“The State Governments of two states will make land for the project available free of cost and render all possible assistance for completion of the project in time. No portion of the sanctioned project will be executed or implemented in land or property owned by private individual or trust,” said an official statement.

“The Principal Secretary (Tourism) and Special Secretary (Tourism) will be appointed by Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh respectively alongwith a member from the Ministry of Tourism and the Implementing agency for monitoring physical and financial progress of the tourism projects in their respective states and submit the progress report on quarterly basis,” it said.
