New Delhi, April 28 (KNN) Traders and shop-keepers in the historic Chandni Chowk and Sadar Bazaar areas in the national capital have been given strict notices by the Municipal authorities to prove that they were in business before 1962 or else pay conversion and parking charges.

“Every individual has to give proof they have been running their establishment from or before 1962 so that they can be exempted from parking charges and conversion charges,” spokesperson of the North Municipal Corporation was quoted in the  media.

He said the corporation has received a clarification from the Delhi Development Authority . As per the Master Plan-2021 these businesses will have to pay the charges if they don’t have evidence that they were in existence before 1962.

Business owners who do not have proof, which could be a water or electricity bill, will receive notices from the Corporation. If they fail to pay before the deadline, the civic body will take action against them.

About  80 notices have been issued this week and an additional 300 will be issued next week. They have till June 30 to pay. (KNN Bureau)
