Chandrababu Naidu persuaded manufacturing and IT giants in US to invest in Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad, May 12 (KNN) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who was on a seven day visit to United States, visited more than 90 manufacturing facilities, signed several MoUs and persuaded NRIs to invest in the state.

During his visit, the CM travelled to as many as 15 states in a span of seven days to woo investors and get business opportunities for the state.

Signs for sister-state relations

Naidu signed agreements for sister-state relations with California, Illinois and Iowa in order to enable closer interactions and investments in a wide range of sectors.

An official from AP CM Office said, “The State of California which shares many similarities with Andhra Pradesh is a power house of information technology and through the proposed agreement; Andhra Pradesh believes that it can share the best practices in areas of IT, agriculture and innovation.”

Visited Manufacturing and IT giants

Naidu, during his visit, held bilateral meetings with more than 30 CEOs of some of the world's biggest companies along with visiting manufacturing facilities of companies like Apple, Google, CISCO, Oracle.

Chandrababu lead high level-delegation met chief operating officer (COO) of Apple Jeff Williams and invited the firm to invest in Andhra Pradesh. Naidu urged Apple to establish a manufacturing facility in the state.

He also paid visit to many other campuses in the Silicon Valley, which would help to generate 12500 jobs in Andhra Pradesh.

The chief minister visited Google's X facility that developed Google's driver-less cars and glasses projects besides using balloons for spreading internet.

He interacted with firm's CEO Astro Teller and discussed the latest technological and innovative advancements. On the occasion, Google X has agreed to collaborate with the state to enhance Internet penetration in AP.

According to the Chief Minister's Office, as many as 28 IT service companies including CISCO, Global Outlook, Tekpros, Arcus Technologies have come forward to start their operations in Andhra Pradesh.

Addressed Pravasi Telugu populace

The Chief Minister also addressed the Pravasi Telugu populace on two different occasions exhorting them to contribute their mite in the development of home state of Andhra Pradesh. 

The CM urged the NRIs to set up ancillary units along with the big manufacturing units in the state. This would not only generate business opportunities in the state but would also create employment opportunities.

On the last day of this momentous visit, he held a breakfast meeting with the representatives of the Stanford University and visited the Franklin Templeton Office.

Transformative award to AP CM

In California, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu was felicitated with the prestigious 'Transformative Chief Minister Award' in recognition for his role in advancing the US-India partnership at the state level.

The award was presented to him by the US-India Business Council during the USIBC West Coast Summit in the Silicon Valley.

USIBC said the summit  convened with  150 industry leaders from sectors such as information technology, banking, food processing, healthcare, clean energy, digital payments, manufacturing and Government of India officials to explore the impacts of manufacturing in India, digitisation, India's move towards a cashless society and the future of the US-India trade relations.

Participants discussed key issues such as how Internet of Things (IoTs), smart city planning, and manufacturing issues are shaping the future of the US-India technology partnership.

Led by USIBC chairman and Cisco Executive Chairman, John Chambers, the summit among others featured Union Cabinet Minister for Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT Aruna Sundararajan.

The high level delegation was also  accompanied by  Minister for Finance Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Advisor to Government for Communications, Dr. Parakala Prabhakar, Principle Secretary to CM, G.Sai Prasad, Principle Secretaries to AP Government , Ajay Jain, Solomon Arokya Raj, CEO Economic Development Board J.Krishna Kishore and others.
