Chhattisgarh Secures Over Rs 3 Lakh Cr In Energy Investments At Investors Summit 2025

Raipur, Mar 11 (KNN) Chhattisgarh has successfully attracted investments totaling Rs 3,01,086 crore through various industrial proposals in the energy sector at the recently concluded 'Chhattisgarh Energy Investors Summit 2025.'

These investments span nuclear, thermal, solar, and pumped storage power generation projects, which aim to enhance industrial capabilities while ensuring affordable and uninterrupted electricity for residents, according to state officials.

The investment proposals have been made under various schemes implemented by the state government, with a strategic focus on strengthening Chhattisgarh's energy infrastructure.

"This investment in the energy sector in Chhattisgarh will elevate the state's power generation capacity to new levels and lay the foundation for a sustainable, green future by promoting renewable energy," stated Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.

In the thermal power sector, proposed investments amount to Rs 1,07,840 crore, divided between private investors and public sector undertakings (PSUs).

Private entities are set to contribute Rs 66,720 crore, with Adani Power spearheading multiple projects.

These include Rs 18,000 crore for the Korba 1600 MW plant, Rs 15,000 crore for the Raigarh 1600 MW plant, Rs 15,000 crore for the Raipur 1600 MW plant, and Rs 620 crore for a Korba 1320 MW plant.

Jindal Power plans to invest Rs 12,800 crore in a 1600 MW plant in Raigarh, while Sarda will contribute Rs 5,300 crore for a 660 MW plant in the same district.

PSUs have proposed a combined investment of Rs 41,120 crore, with NTPC committing Rs 15,530 crore for the Lara 1,600MW project in Raigarh and Rs 9,790 crore for the Sipat 800 MW plant in Bilaspur.

Additionally, CSPGCL is investing Rs 15,800 crore in the Korba 1320 MW project, further demonstrating the concerted effort to expand thermal power generation capacity in the region.

A significant development for the state is NTPC's plan to establish a 4200 MW nuclear power project with an investment of Rs 80,000 crore, marking Chhattisgarh's entry into nuclear power generation.

For solar initiatives, Jindal Power and NTPC Green will jointly produce 2500 MW of solar power with an investment of Rs 10,000 crore, encompassing 500 MW solar plants in Doleshra and 2000 MW in Raigarh.

The state will also implement the PM Kusum Yojana, generating 675 MW of solar power at a cost of Rs 4,100 crore and installing 20,000 solar pumps.

Officials indicated that this initiative will provide affordable electricity to farmers for irrigation purposes, reducing their dependence on diesel pumps.

An investment of Rs 57,046 crore is being allocated to pumped storage projects to substantially enhance the state's hydropower capacity.

Major companies are participating in this initiative, with plans for several large-scale projects including an 1800 MW hydropower project in Kotpali, a 1400 MW hydropower scheme in Dangri, and a 3000 MW hydropower project by Jindal Renewable Company.

For further advancement of solar energy, Rs 3,200 crore has been allocated for CREDA Solar Initiatives and Rs 6,000 crore for the PM Surya Scheme.

The state will additionally invest Rs 2,500 crore in government building solar projects, Rs 2,600 crore in Battery Energy Storage Systems, and Rs 17,000 crore to upgrade power transmission infrastructure.

To improve power distribution efficiency, Rs 10,800 crore will be invested under the RDSS program.

Chief Minister Sai emphasised the state's ambitious vision, stating, "The goal is for Chhattisgarh to not only become self-sufficient in energy but also establish itself as an energy hub for the entire country."
