Conference on Automotive R&D Trends to be held on Mar-13

Chennai, Jan 12 (KNN)  The 7th edition of the Conference on Automotive R&D Trends, the annual flagship event of the Tamil Nadu Technology Development and Promotion Centre of CII is scheduled to be held here on March-13.

The theme of the conference is ‘Towards Strengthening Indian Automotive R&D,’ which has significant relevance to the MSME sector considering that the auto component industry is one of the fastest growing during the past two decades among the clusters of MSME segment in India.  MSMEs are key contributors to the total production of auto components, also having a significant share in the exports.

Currently there are as many as 24 auto component clusters in India with the highest concentration of 5 each in Maharashtra and Gujarat, followed by 4 in Punjab, 3 in Haryana, 2 in Karnataka, and 1 each in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

“The conference aims to help stakeholders understand the current scenario of automotive R&D, challenges ahead and share their expectations. It also attempts to project the future of the automotive R&D in comparison with the global level and bring in stakeholders views for matching this growth with the global standards,” an official release said.

The key objectives of the conference are to: serve as a platform for stakeholders from the automotive and allied industrial sectors to share their exert views on strengthening the base for automotive R&D; develop a systematic approach to address the key gaps in the R&D domain.

The conference would also attempt to understand the domestic and global R&D phase to plan for future developments; highlight priority areas for developing robust systems and solutions through research and innovation; and catalyze the automotive growth through innovation and technology.

Other objectives of the conference are to aid the government agencies in development of effective R&D policy;  aid Indian industries in interactions with international networks for best practices, collaborative R&D, product development etc;  and to facilitate knowledge flow by working with international organizations through bi-lateral / multilateral cooperation mechanism; while creating awareness among the end-users and consumers.

The proposed sessions for the conference are - Automotive R&D Mega Trends – Global Perspective and Indian Standpoint; Major Challenges in Indian Automotive R&D;    Efficient Conventions and Approaches towards a Robust R&D; and Ecosystem of Automotive R&D – Stakeholder Views and Measures.
 
There will also be a panel discussion on ‘Critical Measures to Enhance Indian Automotive R&D to pace with Global Automotive Trends - OEM, OES and other partners in R&D Supply Chain.’
 
Global speakers from leading OEMs, prominent auto component Industries, transport organizations, infrastructure companies, service providers, system integrators, state and central government officials, corporate consultants etc will participate and share their knowledge at the event.
 
The conference is an ideal platform where industries and organizations can engage to explore opportunities for joint technology development, identify new business and technology areas, facilitate technology transfer, transfer commercially available off-the-shelf scalable technologies, actively collaborate with institutes and research labs for researches, cater knowledge exchange through industry / institute exchange programs etc.
 
Close to 250 senior management personnel from diverse industries all over India and abroad are expected to attend the conference.  (KNN/ES)
