CPCB asks HSPCB to act against industrial pollution
New Delhi, May 27 (KNN) The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has written to the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) to take stock of industrial pollution in Panipat, Sonipat and Faridabad.
The directions, issued by CPCB chairman SPS Parihar, told the state pollution control authority to consider disposal of effluent through dedicated conveyance systems to the nearby existing common effluent treatment plants (CETP).
The state pollution control board has also been asked to review its policy for renewal of consents as well as periodic inspection of the industries for compliance verification, in compliance with an NGT order, to ensure regular operation of ETPs by industries in the state.
The CPCB direction stated that as per central ground water board (CGWB), 47 out of 55 units in Panipat, 13 out of 34 units in Sonipat and 5 out of 8 units in Faridabad drawing groundwater have not even applied for obtaining NOCs.
HSPCB should ensure action against all defaulter units by imposing deterrent environmental compensation from the date of commissioning for illegal drawl of water within 15 days, in addition to the action being taken by CGWB through DCs, the directive added.
