Delhi MSME summit cum vendor development programme

New Delhi, Dec 20 (KNN) Industry body CII in association with MSME Development Institute, Ministry of MSME organised the Delhi MSME Summit cum vendor Development Programme to promote MSME sector and to discuss and deliberate on challenges faced by them, said a media report.

As many as 10 public sector enterprises including (PSEs) including Central Electronics Limited, Engineers India Limited, Gas Authority of India Limited, Oil India Limited, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Telecommunications India Limited and EdCIL Ltd participated in the summit held on December 19, 2014.

Senior officials from PSEs spoke at length about their procurement and vendor development policies and schemes, it said.

In his address, Commissioner and Secretary Industries and Chairman and Managing Director, DSIIDC, Amit Yadav said that MSMEs are the backbone of any economy. He said the country can no longer be only seen as ancillary units for larger corporations.

To encourage the growth of the sector, Yadav emphasised the policies like Ease of Doing Business that are being adopted and implemented by Delhi government.
He said that the next 3-4 months, various policies will be implemented in the union territory that will ease of doing business by reducing the number of permits and licenses required to run a business in the city.

He also urged the industry members to use the MSME Facilitation Centre set up by the Delhi Government for any redressal or compliance issues.

Citing that MSME sector is one of the key focus areas of the central government, Additional Development Commissioner, Ministry of MSME S Sahu said a revised MSME Policy is being drafted through newly established skill Centre. He urged the industry to share their suggestions with the Ministry.

Chairman and Managing Director JBM India Pvt Ltd SK Arya said along with bring the most important contributor to employment generation, MSME is also the most dynamic and vibrant sector of any economy.

With increased focus on R & D and partnerships between vendor and buyers, MSME sector can reach greater heights, he added.

Emphasising the various initiatives taken by CII for development of MSME industry all across the country Vice Chair, CII Delhi State Council Alka Kaul urged the industry belonging to the sector to learn from the best practices of each other and other global corporations.

In a special session on Global Partnerships for SME, participants learned from the best practices and policies followed by Governments of Hong Kong, Japan, Hungary and Canada.

The summit also featured discussion session on how access to finance can be improved for MSMEs.

Various banking and non-banking financial corporations like SIDBI Punjab National Bank, Syndicate Bank and DHFL participated in the programme. (KNN Bureau)
