DIC ties up with COINDIA to conduct energy audit for MSMEs

Coimbatore, Oct 30 (KNN) The District Industries Centre (DIC) Coimbatore has tied up with the Coimbatore Industrial Infrastructure Association (COINDIA) to conduct Promotion of Energy Audit and Conservation of Energy (PEACE) of the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the region.

COINDIA has a well-established energy management cell under the GEF-UNIDO-BEE project. It has announced the DIC tie-up, which will allow it to offer energy auditing services to members under the Peace scheme.

Under the scheme, members, usually MSMEs, can get a 50% subsidy on the cost of the detailed energy audit up to a maximum of Rs 75,000 per unit.

If the company follow the energy saving solutions suggested in the audit and after implementing them shows 15 per cent in energy savings, it can avail a 25 per cent subsidy on the cost spent on implementing the suggestion. It can avail the subsidy of up to Rs 2 lakh.

So far, DIC has done energy audits for as many as 21 units while COINDIA has done 30 energy audits across various industries and institutions. Approximate energy savings achieved through the energy audits done by COINDIA is 5.52 lakh kWh per year amounting to rs 49 lakh.
