Election 2019: DSSIA demands continuation of policies for MSMEs

New Delhi, Apr 6 (KNN) With the approaching date of  Lok Sabha elections polling,  Odisha's District Small Scale Association (DSSIA) shared the expectations of MSMEs with KNN India from the party which forms the new government after the polls.

President of DSSIA, Vivek Raj Bajpai said that all the campaigns and policies run by central and state government should be continued in the same way they are running currently.

Bajpai talking on behalf of industries in Odisha said, “Industries in Odisha want stability and there should be no frequent changes in the policies as it disturbs and affects the system of work badly.”

Speaking about the issues faced by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state he said that the biggest issue for MSMEs in Odisha is due to the state government as the Odisha government does not have sufficient finance to make payments to the MSMEs.

He said, “We expect from upcoming government to make payments timely for goods purchased by MSMEs.”

He added, “MSMEs are pride of the nation. It gives employment, generates income and also serves as stock holders of the nation. So we expect government to support MSMEs as much as possible for the betterment of the country.”

Talking about GST, he said it is a very good decision taken by the government and it is just the change in culture.

Whenever a culture changes it is natural for difficulties to occur, but these difficulties are temporary which gives good results, Bajpai mentioned.

He said that once everything starts to fall in line the decision of GST will be praised by all.

Earlier KNN reported that as many as nine MSME associations in Odisha have urged the State Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to convert the status of allotted lands from leasehold to freehold.

In this regard KNN spoke to President of Uttkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Ramesh Mahapatra earlier who stated that that MSME growth has substantially decelerated due to leasehold nature of the land.

He said that leasehold discourages establishment of new enterprises as well as creates trouble for next generation after 30-45 years of leasehold.

Odisha goes to polls in four phases on April 11, 18, 23 and 29. (KNN/JM)
