FOIJ delegation meets Governor’s advisor to apprise about industry concern

Jammu, July 25 (KNN) A MSME delegation from Federation of Industries Jammu (FOIJ) met the Advisor to the Governor of J&K, BB Vyas, to discuss the difficulties being faced by the industry due to non-issuance of notification for the grant of budgetary support of 2% in lieu of CST and Freight Subsidy as approved in the State Budget for the year 2018-19.

The industrialists also expressed concern over non-availability of state fiscal incentives as compared to pre GST Regime for the units which were not covered under the Central Excise Regime with a turnover of less than Rs 1.5 crore

The delegation was led by FOIJ Chairman Lalit Mahajan in the presence of Ajit Lal Bawa, Co-Chairman, FOIJ and Vinay Mahajan, Vice President, Kathua Industrial Unit Association.

Mahajan raised the issues regarding the non-issuance of Notifications for the grant of Budgetary support of 2% in lieu of CST and Freight Subsidy as approved in the State Budget for the year 2018-19 for Industrial Sector of J&K.

It was also brought into the notice of Vyas that the Micro & Small Scale Sector of the State is also suffering very badly due to non-availability of State Fiscal Incentives as compared to pre GST Regime for the units which were not covered under the Central Excise Regime with a turnover of less than Rs 1.5 crore.

The other issues discussed during the meeting included the Employment Clause for the Reimbursement of CGST/SGST State Budgetary Support to Industrial Units of J&K, Denial of Budgetary Support to Industrial Units engaged in the Manufacturing of Cement Bricks & Cement Tiles, Issue of Procedure /Guidelines for the Self Certification Mechanism for Annual Assessment of Raw Material/ Finished Goods for Toll Tax Exemption etc.

Mahajan, also pointed towards the negative industrial growth in the State stating that one of the reasons for this is Centre’s failure to extend the fiscal incentives to the industrial sector of J&K at par with North Eastern States.

The delegation also stressed upon setting up of Mother Industry and Cross- LOC Trade with the inclusion of industrial items being manufactured in J&K in the SOP.

“We fear that in case remedial measures are not adopted by State/Central Government, the negative industrial growth in near future will lead to massive job losses in the state,” Mahajan said requesting Vyas to kindly take up the matter with concerned departments to resolve the issues on priority basis.

Vyas has assured the delegation to resolve the issues on priority basis. (KNN Bureau)
