Foreign tourists to NE states increase by 27.9% in 2013

New Delhi, Aug 5 (KNN) Foreign Tourist Visits (FTVs) to the north eastern states of the country registered a growth of 27.9 per cent in 2013 over 2012. A high and positive growth of 12.5 per cent in the region was registered in 2012 over 2011.

According to a data release from the Ministry of Tourism, among the north eastern states, highest growth of FTVs in 2013 over 2012 was observed in Manipur with 1908 visitors registering a growth of 154.7 per. The growth rate of tourism in the state in 2012 over 2011 was 29.6 per cent.

It was followed by Arunachal Pradesh (111.2 per cent), Tripura (51.2 per cent), Nagaland (32.7 per cent) and Meghalaya (27.5 per cent).

Assam (0.5 per cent) and Mizoram (7.5 per cent) registered lowest growth in FTVs during 2012 and 2013. (KNN/ST)
