Giriraj Singh leading in Begusarai leaving behind CPI’s Kanhaiya Kumar

Begusarai, May 23 (KNN) Giriraj Singh, the Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME) in the previous BJP government regime, is leading in Bihar’s Begusarai leaving behind Communist Party of India’s (CPI’s) candidate Kanhaiya Kumar.

Kanhaiya Kumar, who contested the 17th Lok Sabha elections from the Begusarai parliamentary constituency, has been in the news ever since the controversy broke at JNU campus in 2016. He was fighting elections in a three-way contest with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)’s Tanveer Hassan and BJP's Giriraj Singh.

Kumar was fielded from his hometown Begusarai, which is often referred to as the ‘Leningrad of India’.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Giriraj Singh was leading in the erstwhile Left stronghold of Bihar by 15,346 votes at the moment.

As of 9.30 am, Kumar’s vote count stood at 17,094 while Singh’s was 32,440, according to the Election Commission of India (EC).

Talking to a leading media house, Giriraj Singh said Narendra Modi has finished caste, regional and hate politics region system from the country. (KNN Bureau)
