Hyderabad, Jan 30 (KNN)  Transparent Procurement Act should be enacted to make purchase from local MSMEs mandatory for government bodies for the success of MSME schemes, said National President, Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises of India (FSME India),  A Prashanth Kumar Reddy.

Speaking at the India MSME summit- Telangana held here today, he appealed to the Telangana State Government to directly purchase from micro and small units which are granted under Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTSME).

The theme of the summit was New Industrial Policy – Prospects in Telangana for MSMEs and Chief Guest at the event, Minister for Industries of Telangana State, Jupally Krishna Rao delivered the key note address.

Reddy presented his views on ‘MSME Specific Schemes’ in the session on Banking and Finance.  He elaborated the main problems faced by entrepreneurs and proposed some solutions.  He is of the opinion that there is a gap between schemes and implementation of the schemes for MSMEs, which is reflected in - Financing and recovery by bankers, lack of market support, lack of road map for equal spread of MSMEs and lack of co-ordination among all the stake holders.

He suggested some solutions which include - proper allocation for MSME schemes in the budget itself; and said that government should directly purchase from micro and small units which are granted under CGTSME.

He also said that special SLBC should be constituted for MSMEs and there should be regular monitoring; and industry department should convene quarterly meetings regularly with all concerned government departments, bankers and industry associations.

These suggestions, he hopes can help MSME schemes run properly, adding that state government, bankers and industry associations can play a role in achieving ‘Bangaru
Telangana’ if they work in co-ordination.  (KNN/ES)
