Greater Noida Approves Workers’ Housing, Labour Hostels To Provide Affordable Accommodation
Lucknow, Sept 5 (KNN) The Greater Noida Authority Board has approved plans to develop dedicated workers’ housing and labour hostels to provide affordable accommodation to workers employed or seeking employment in the city.
Following state government directions, the Authority will construct EWS-sized workers’ housing in Patwari and Birondi villages. Land for the project has already been identified, with construction expected to begin by the end of this year after completion of the required formalities.
The initiative is aimed at providing workers an affordable alternative to expensive private housing.
Workers’ Housing To Be Developed In Patwari, Birondi
Following state government directions, the Authority will construct EWS-sized workers’ housing in Patwari and Birondi villages. Land for the project has already been identified, with construction expected to begin by the end of this year after completion of the required formalities.
The initiative is aimed at providing workers an affordable alternative to expensive private housing.
Labour Hostels Planned For Migrant Workers
The Authority has also identified 3,000 square metres each in Sector Ecotech-06 and Ecotech-11 for labour hostels under the Transit Hostel Scheme of the Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
The plots will be transferred to the Labour Department free of cost for construction of the hostels.
Affordable Stay Planned For Workers Seeking Jobs
Workers arriving in Greater Noida in search of employment will be able to stay at the facilities at low rents while looking for jobs. After securing employment, they can shift to permanent accommodation.
30 Flats Allocated For NDRF Response Centre
The Authority Board has separately approved the free allocation of 30 flats in Sector Omicron-1A for the Regional Response Centre of the 8th Battalion, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Ghaziabad.
The accommodation will function as a camp, operational complex and staff office rather than family residences. NDRF teams will remain stationed at the facility to enable faster mobilisation during emergencies.
Facility To Strengthen Disaster Response
The facility is expected to strengthen response and rescue operations in Greater Noida and surrounding areas during natural disasters, industrial accidents, building collapses, floods and other emergencies.
