Gujarat Govt to slash electricity duty on power generated by industrial units for captive consumption
Gandhinagar, July 25 (KNN) Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat Nitin Patel announced reduction in the electricity duty on power generated by industrial units for captive consumption.
Announcing this in the Gujarat Assembly, Patel said that the decision was taken after representatives of a number of industries requested him and Chief Minister Vijay Rupani to decrease the rate of 70 paise per unit.
Considering the request, electricity duty on power generated by industrial units for captive consumption reduced to 60 paise per unit from 70 paise per unit.
In this regard, a bill will be introduced in the house, said the Minister.
Earlier this month, the state government in its modified budget proposed to increase the rate of electricity duty on captive power generation from conventional resources by an industrial undertaking from the existing 55 paise per unit to 70 paise per unit.
