Gujarat IT and ITES sector receives industry status

Gandhinagar, Aug 29 (KNN) After a long wait, the IT and ITES sector in Gujarat has finally been accorded an industry status which will help these companies avail benefits at par with companies engaged in manufacturing.

KNN India had on August 4 reported that the Industries and Mines Department, Government of Gujarat has written a letter to the Department of Science and Technology, Gujarat requesting to take necessary action in providing industry status to IT sector.

The state industries and mines department has already issued a notification granting industry status to IT & ITES sector.

Apart from Gujarat, states like Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have already accorded industry to this sector.

The IT/ITES companies in Gujarat will now be able to avail incentives on land procurement and electricity etc which in turn will increase investment in the state. (KNN Bureau)
