Chandigarh, Jul 16 (KNN) The Government of Haryana may propose amendments to three labour laws such as the Industrial Disputes Act, the Factories Act and the Contract Labour Act on the lines of the Rajasthan Government which recently obtained its cabinet approval to replace the three prototype Acts that have lost their utility in modern times and forwarded the proposal to the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment for necessary action, according to an industry body.

Stating this during an Interactive Session of the members of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry with top brass of Haryana Government here today, Additional Chief Secretary of the Government of Haryana, Y S Malik, also said that it has hired the services of Wipro to make its industrial taxation comprehensively online to reduce the paper work as well as restore transparency in tax administration.

Malik further indicated that amendments to the aforesaid laws fell in the domain of the Central Government.

However, he added that the State bureaucracy would suggest changes in the Industrial Disputes Act, the Factories Act and the Contract Labour Act as is being recommended by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and after due diligence send it to the Union Government for its endorsement.

During the interactive session, it was recommended that the Government of Haryana should bring about changes in its APMC Act to ensure fair play for the farmers of the State and also rationalize its power tariffs for industrial consumers as the power tariff in the State for Industry are extremely exorbitant and need to be rationalize to make it competitive.

The Chamber also proposed that the State should set up Committees of Secretaries to resolve the pending issues that harm and block the industrial development of Haryana with sufficient representations from Chambers of Commerce such as PHD Chamber and other Industrial Associations so that hassle free operation of industry is ensured.

The interactive session was jointly presided over by the Chief Secretary of Haryana S C Choudhary and Senior Vice President of PHD Chamber Alok B Shriram here today. (KNN Bureau)
