Chandigarh, Aug 20 (KNN)  Providing an excellent opportunity to learn employable skills, Haryana tourism is offering courses in food production, food and beverage service and housekeeping at its hotels in Surajkund and Faridabad.

A part of the ‘Hunar Se Rozgar’ programme, the courses starting on September-1 will be held at Hotel Rajhans in Surajkund and Badkhal Lake Tourist Resort in Faridabad, according to a press notification.

While the duration of the course in food production is 8 weeks, F&B service and housekeeping/utility are for 6 weeks each.

The courses are open to individuals in the age group 18-26 with a minimum 10th class pass with English.

In addition, the courses will be offered free of cost and trainees will be provided lunch, uniform, tool kit and study material.

On successful completion of the course with 90 per cent attendance, trainees will be given a stipend of Rs 2000 for the 8 weeks course and Rs 1500 for the 6 weeks course along with a certificate.

The Ministry of Tourism has launched a training programme, called Hunar Se Rozgar Tak, to create employable skills in the interested youth who are in the age group of 18-25 years and who are minimum 8th pass. The upper age limit had been raised to 28 with effect from 11th November, 2010. In its original conception, which is under execution, the programme was to be conducted by the institutes of hotel management and food craft institutes sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism.

Later, encouraged by the response received, the programme reach was extended by also allowing the Institutes of hotel management, food craft institutes and hospitality related organisations, as implementing agencies for the programme. However, the selection of the institutes for the purpose was vested in the respective state governments / UT administrations.

It has now been decided to further extend the programme by allowing its conduct by certain starred hotels, so as to reach out to the young eligible persons in much greater numbers. This extension has been worked out in consultation with the Hotel Association of
India and constitutes a corporate social responsibility on part of the hotels involved.  (KNN/ES)
