HCCI suggests replacing minimum monthly elecricity consumption from 50% or less with 20% for relief

New Delhi, Apr 8 (KNN) Haryana Chamber of Commerce & Industry (HCCI) has taken cognizance of sales instruction of electricity issued by Chief Engineer of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN), Panchkula.

As per the instruction, relief will be given to Industries and other business for waiving off the fixed charges having load 20 KW or above, subject to ceiling of Rs. 10,000/- per month, provided the consumption is 50 per cent or less than average consumption of January and February, 2020.

''It appears the condition of 50 per cent average monthly consumption has been inserted so as to avoid the benefit to essential services consumers, who are not subjected to lockdown,'' said HCCI.

Since, the lockdown days during March are only 7 and during April, it will be 14 days, thus there is rare possibility to qualify the condition of 50 per cent or less monthly consumption, so as to avail the waiver of fixed charges by any of the Industry and other businesses, HCCI noted.

Further HCCI claimed that the ceiling of Rs. 10,000- per month also do not sound much as it will compensate only for the load from 20 to 58.82 KW taking the fixed charges rate of Rs. 170- per KW.

The commerce body suggested to replace 50 per cent or less monthly consumption with 20 per cent monthly consumption.

''Under the circumstances, it will be appreciated, if the condition of 50 per cent or less monthly consumption is replaced with 20 per cent are less monthly consumption and the ceiling of Rs. 10,000/- is out-rightly revoked, so as to give some relief to Industry and other businesses facing huge losses during lockdown, 'said HCCI.
