Himachal to get three industrial estates

Shimla, May 6 (KNN) The newly elected Himachal Pradesh government has taken many steps including opening estates and parks to promote industries in the hill state.

“Three new state-of-the-art industrial areas are being developed in Una, Solan and Kangra districts and about 200 hectares land has been identified in each district,” said a media report quoting a government spokesperson. 

The government is also in the process of preparing a vision document and a roadmap for promoting food processing industries in the region which is rich in apple, mango, and almond production.

"The government is encouraging setting up of food parks and industries based on fruits and vegetables and units based on locally available raw material.  All these have been included in the priority sector and are being offered special incentive package," the spokesperson added. 

Himachal government during the last four months had given approval to 38 industrial proposals with an outlay of Rs 608.64 crore.  Moreover, in the pipeline are projects with investment worth Rs 400 crore.

Also, the government has approved six proposals with an investment of Rs 10.64 crore under the National Mission of Food Processing Industries (NMFPI).

According to official data, the hill state has 39,254 industrial units with a total investment of Rs 17,601 crore, which have provided employment to over 2.72 lakh people. (KNN)
