Hubli handloom expo helps weavers market their products

The four day expo that is being held here from November-7 to 10 was organised to help individual weavers and representatives of weavers’ societies get better prices for their products, said The Hindu.
There are about 50 stalls in total selling both ethnic and contemporary designs. Both in the form of running fabric and saris, the handloom material is made of cotton, silk and a mix of both.
Some of silk varieties on display are Kanjeevaram, crepe silks, Dharmavaram, Uppadas, Pochampally silks, Narayanpet, Gadwals, Paithani, Banaras brocades, Jamdani, Jamawar, Patolas, Tussar, Eri, Muga and Kosa of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Assam and Chattisgarh.
Moreover, there is an elegant display of block and dabu prints from Rajasthan; Batiks from Madhya Pradesh; Kalamkaris from Andhra Pradesh; Kantha and block prints from West Bengal; Kasuti from Karnataka; and Kashida from Jammu and Kashmir.
Participating weavers’ societies have contributed to expenses of the expo. (KNN/ES)
