J&K govt extends relief to flood-hit industry; industry calls for further measures

Jammu, Oct 13 (KNN)  In the backdrop of recent floods which caused heavy damage to the industry across the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister of the state government, Omar Abdullah has proposed a financial package of Rs 44,000 crore towards rehabilitation and declaration of tax holiday for 10 years.
 
In a meeting of the Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) held on October-11, under the Chairmanship of  President, BBIA, Annil Suri the association has conveyed it heartiest gratitude to the Chief Minister, “for projecting Rs 44,000 Cr. Financial Package for rehabilitation, Declaration of Tax Holiday for 10 years before Government of India and other Bank related reliefs which will provide great relief to the flood affected people and limping J&K Industrial Sector,” a BBIA press release said.
 
Further to sustain the existing limping J & K Industries and in order to make trade and industry survive, BBIA has called for the immediate infusion of liquidity and retaining whatever is available in the system to allow the businesses to rebuild themselves,
 
It has also requested the Chief Minister for further measures - release 60 crore VAT Refund due from SICOP pending for last more than two years; release of all payments held up in various State Government Departments against the supply of industrial products; get all cheques pending in state government treasuries cleared; and put in place with immediate effect, the already approved Cash Less System for VAT refund through SICOP.
 
Besides prominent industrialists, the meeting was attended by Rakesh Bhat, Rahul Bansal, Lalit Mahajan, Sidharth Dogra and office Bearers of BBIA.  (KNN/ES)
