Jammu, Oct 15 (KNN) The World Standards Day was celebrated by Bureau of Indian Standards, Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office, Jammu on 14 October which is celebrated the world over as the Foundation Day of the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO).

The seminar was inaugurated by Amit Sharma, Managing Director, J&K State Industrial Development Corporation.

In his inaugural address, Amit Sharma said that the theme of this year's celebrations "Standards Build Trust" indeed is very apt since it truly coincides with the principles and concepts of Standardization.

He said that Bureau of Indian Standards has been established for harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods and for related matters and thus building the trust. With trust, businesses and consumers embark on a lifelong journey towards solutions that will meet their mutual expectations – productivity, performance and quality of life.

Praveen Khanna, Scientist E & Head, Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office, Jammu, in his welcome address extended hearty welcome to the Chief guest and the delegates.

Khanna in his welcome address said that every year on 14 October world standards this day is celebrated to pay tribute to the efforts of thousands of experts world over who colloborate with International Organization for Standardazation (ISO), International Electro Technical Commission (IEC) and International Telecom Union (ITU).

The technical seminar organised by BIS was chaired by A K Garg, Chief Engineer, CPWD, Jammu.  Garg conducted the technical session in which presentation were made by Annil Suri, Managing Director, Tawai Arc Electrodes Pvt Ltd, Jammu, B M Sharma, Associate Vice President, Singer (India) Ltd, Jammu and  Arun Kumar Datt, Quality Assurance Manager, IFCA Bottling Co Ltd, Jammu.
