Karnataka dealers asked to file turnover returns online

In this regard, the department has developed a software programme and has brought out a user manual to help dealers to acquaint and use the software as per the requirements, a notification from the Office of the Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes said.
The move is likely to prepare the state for the GST (goods and services tax) regime.
In addition, the Commercial Taxes Department is organising awareness and educative programmes for the benefit of dealers and other stakeholders such as advocates, chartered accountants, and sales tax practitioners.
Awareness and educative programmes with live demonstration on electronic uploading of purchase and sales details have been organised at various locations. The live demonstrations are being made by senior officers from the Department.
In the meantime, the Department has set a tax collection target of Rs 42,000 crore for 2014-15. The commercial tax collection was Rs 36,773 crore in 2013-14 as against the target of Rs 37,000 crore. (KNN/ES)
