Kashmir's industrial association demands extension in Udyam registration deadline

Srinagar, Feb 16 (KNN) Kashmir Small Scale Industrial Association (KSSIA) has demanded grant of extension in Udyam registration by existing industrial enterprises while expressing uncertainty over completion of the process by thousands of enterprises.

According to a statement from the association, an interactive session with officers of the MSME ministry, KSSIA members raised several issues that came in the way of online registration and observed that the process was unlikely to be completed by March end.

The members' expressed dismay over the silence maintained by the Industries and Commerce department over the issue as no awareness drive so far has been launched by them to inform the enterprises that Udyam registration was mandatory for them post 1st April, 2021.

President KSSIA Syed Fazal Illah asked the central and local authorities to grant extension in the process of registration under Udyam besides clarifying some of the vital issues.

“Whereas all those enterprises having an annual turnover of 40 lakh or less are exempted from filing of returns under GST, the online form does not accept them unless they furnish details of GST registration,” he said.

“The government should also come up with the renewed role of DICs which hitherto would take up the task of registering or make changes in the approved activities of the units,” he added.

During the interaction, AD MSME, Suhail Allaqaband explained the process of registration with the Udyam Portal.

He said that the Udyam portal had been established by GOI as a “single window system” after doing away with the authorization of all other online or offline systems or agencies hitherto entitled to do MSME registrations or undertaking any of the activity related to the process.
