Ludhiana MSMEs miffed with peak-time power surcharge

Ludhiana, July 30 (KNN) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Ludhiana have shown their strong resentment over the levied peak-time surcharge of Rs2 per unit (kVAh) for power consumed between 6 pm to 10 pm from June 1, 2020, onwards.
''The MSMEs would not be able to bear the burden by paying extra for electricity to run their units as the industry was already reeling under big recession due the pandemic,'' said Upkar Singh Ahuja, president and Pankaj Sharma, general secretary, Chamber of Commercial and Industrial Undertakings (CICU) in a joint statement on Wednesday.
They said that instead of providing electricity at Rs 5 per unit, as promised by the Punjab Government, the ruling party has given a shock to the industry in the state by further increasing the charges of electricity through TOD (peak-time) surcharge.
The CICU functionaries urged the Punjab Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary and the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) management to withdraw the TOD surcharge and save industry in this hard time.
