Mumbai, Jan 30 (KNN) Golden Maharashtra Development Council (GMDC) organised a manufacturing summit to present stories of accomplishment of successful manufacturers.  A panel of experts also gave an insight into tomorrow’s manufacturing world with their experience and foresight.

Former State Finance Minister, Jayant Patil on Thursday inaugurated Golden Maharashtra Manufacturing Summit 2015 here.

During the event, a knowledge paper on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) was presented to the dignitaries addressing the state-of-affairs of the manufacturing sector in Maharashtra.

The paper examined and analysed the crucial role played by MSMEs in the state and problems faced by them. It also recommended solutions that included creation of a financial ecosystem to aid and procure finances from banking institutions; creation of infrastructure; and skill development.

The event also conducted a series of workshops that focused on guiding MSMEs across all aspects of doing business.

In addition, Golden Maharashtra MSME Awards were given away to Maharashtra’s entrepreneurs and MSMEs in five categories: Medium enterprise was won by Ashish Science Pvt Ltd, Small enterprise by HD Fire Protect Pvt Ltd, Micro enterprise by Matchbox Accessories Pvt Ltd, Innovative enterprise by Elkay Chemicals Pvt Ltd and Woman entrepreneur of the year was awarded to Mustang Enterprise.

The awards recognize MSMEs that exhibit impeccable leadership, robust financial strength, employment generation, transparency and creating wealth for its stakeholder.

Also speaking at the event, the state's Minister for Industry, Subhash Desai said that the state government is keen to fast-track progress in the MSME sector and make Maharashtra the preferred destination for industries to prosper.  Towards this, in future, businesses will be required to obtain only 25 licenses compared to the 76 licenses required currently for industries to operate their business. The move he hopes will help cut the response time for clearances for projects and also help curb red tapism. (KNN/ST)
