Manipur startup policy would nurture and encourage startups: Manipur CM

New Delhi, Aug 9 (KNN) Manipur Startup Policy would nurture and encourage startups and entrepreneurs to create jobs and assist in the economic growth of the state, said N Biren Singh, Manipur Chief Minister.

He was speaking at the Manipur Startup Conclave 2018 held at City Convention Centre here, Imphal.

He said “this is a historic day for the state of Manipur as an ambitious program "Start-Up Policy" is being rolled out and a land route has been opened between India and Myanmar through Moreh.

The aim and objective of launching the start-up scheme is to unleash the potential, talent and entrepreneurship skills of the state, he added.

The policy is proposed to be implemented with a financial assistance of Rs 150 crore in the next five years.

He hoped that more banks would extend their support to the entrepreneurs of the state.

Of the total 334 start-up/beneficiaries, 29 were selected under the revenue stage, 200 under the idea stage and 105 beneficiaries under the entrepreneur support scheme.

The Chief Minister assured the gathering that the government would extend every possible help to nurture and support promising entrepreneurs of the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Y. Joykumar Singh said the future economy of the state depends on the entrepreneurs of the state.

Grants and sanction letters by the state government were also distributed to select start-ups and entrepreneurs under the policy on the occasion.
