Manipur CM Biren Singh launches electric mobility policy

Imphal, Nov 9 (KNN) Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh on Wednesday releases the Manipur electric mobility policy 2022.

The policy was launched during the inauguration of two-day Awareness-cum-workshop on Electric Vehicles, changing Infrastructure and Renewable Hybrid Energy in North-East India” in Imphal.

Addressing the occasion, Singh said “To embrace and accept the pace of adoption of electric vehicles, “The Manipur Electric Mobility Policy, 2022” was notified in August this year” and the policy targets to facilitate the adoption of at least 20 per cent EVs in the State by 2026.

“The State government under the policy will provide incentives in the form of waiver of upto 30 per cent in Motor Vehicle tax at the time of Registration of the newly purchased EVs,” he said.

As per reports, the government is giving priority to EVs while purchasing vehicles for the government departments.

Several schemes and initiatives have been launched to boost the demand for EV, Transport Minister Kashim Vashum said explaining the centre’s efforts to develop as global leader in the Ev sector.

The electric mobility policy will be a step forward in achieving the country’s goal of green and clear India  for future generations.  (KNN Bureau)
