MP to build 10 steel silos; user industries to benefit

Bhopal, Jul 24 (KNN) The Madhya Pradesh Government will build steel silos at 10 locations in the state at a cost of Rs 300 crore - a move which will help the user industries in the state.

Madhya Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Corporation (MPWLC), a public sector undertaking under the control of the state government has initiated the project to develop, operate and maintain silo and storage of wheat in different areas namely Bhopal, Dewas, Harda, Hoshangabad, Indore Raisen, Satna, Sehore, Ujjain and Vidisha.

It will be developed through Public Private Partnership (PPP) on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis.

The project will be spread over an area of approximately seven acres and each area will have four silos. They will have storage capacity of 50,000 metric tonnes where the minimum capacity of each silo will be 10,000 MT.

Some project areas will also have facilities like vehicle parking area, reception, cafeteria and rest rooms, security equipment including closed-circuit television (CCTV), public address system, and standby electricity generator.

In this regard, MPWLC is inviting bids from experienced consultancy firms for the appointment of consultants as an independent expert for steel silos facilities during the construction and operations and maintenance period of the project.

The consultancy team will have key personnel such as senior engineer‐cum‐team leader, associate engineer, and contract specialist. It will be responsible for independent monitoring of the progress of the project.

The objective of Warehousing and Logistics Policy 2012 is to encourage private investment in development of warehousing and logistics infrastructure in the state.
It will benefit the existing industries, traders, farmers and agriculturists at large by providing cost effective warehousing and logistics facilities. (KNN/ST)
