Nashik, Nov 26 (KNN) MSME Ministry has been saying that Aadhaar card is not mandatory to register with the Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM), however, the District Industries Centre (DIC) has urged the existing MSMEs to submit their Aadhaar card numbers online for acknowledgement.

MSME Ministry has come up with one page UAM for the MSMEs to register themselves online. In a form there is a section which asks for the Aadhaar number, but the MSME Ministry has reiterated several times recently that Aadhar number is not mandatory.

Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra last week said,” Even without an Aadhaar card, the Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) can be generated within three minutes, said Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra.

Mishra said that Aadhaar Card is not mandatory for the UAM.

Meanwhile, MSME Secretary Anup K Pujari had said, “There are some people who are criticising us because it is called Udyog Aadhaar, it is an erroneous impression that Aadhaar number is mandatory to get Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum filed.”

“While an Aadhaar number is required because you are filing electronically and we need to validate that, it need not be the Aadhaar number of that entrepreneur or the enterprise because it is given only to an individual,” he added.

“Any incorporated company will have an authorised representative who files for them, we want that person’s Adhaar number, it is to ensure that whatever is being filed is not a ghost filing,” further said Pujari.

However, in Maharashtra, it has been made mandatory from October 6. Accordingly, an entrepreneur, who is opening a new unit in MSMEs category, will have to submit Adhaar card number only online for the registration. Apart from this, existing MSMEs, which are operational, will have to file adhar number and take acknowledgement.

As part of this, the DIC has organised a camp for the existing MSMEs from December 1 to 31 to help them file Adhaar card number and take acknowledgement.

The statement issued by the DIC, states, "As per the notification by the the Ministry of MSMEs of the central government dated September 18, 2015, it has been made mandatory to all existing MSMEs, which have gone into production, to submit adhar card number online and take acknowledgement. In a bid to facilitate the entrepreneurs, the DIC has organised a month-long camp from December 1 to 31, except holidays, to submit their adhar card number online and give them Udyog Adhaar Acknowledgement."

The statement adds, "The entrepreneurs, who are participating in the camp, need to have details like Adhaar card number, bank account number, IFS Code and their email address. There is no need of any other documents apart from this. The camp is conducted at the Nashik office of DIC during official hours except holidays." (KNN Bureau)
