MSME startups in Kerala to get hassle-free services

Kozhikode, Nov 1 (KNN) Young and aspiring entrepreneurs in the Kozhikode district of Kerala might get hassle-free services while setting up Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) using the state government’s single window clearance system as the District Industries Centre (DIC) has come up with an exclusive Investment Promotion Facilitation Centre (IPFC).

The IPFC will reportedly offer its service in such a way as to help new entrepreneurs secure permission for their ventures within just 30 days.

DIC general manager PA Najeeb said that like earlier new entrepreneurs won't have to run after government departments seeking clearance.

“Earlier, we had a system in which new entrepreneurs had to knock at the doors of multiple government departments for clearance. What we offer through this centre is a streamlined service where one can just walk in for enjoying the ease of the single window system.” he said.

''Najeeb points out that clearance is now just a click away for those who want to come up with new micro, small and medium ventures in their hometowns,'' he added.

He also highlighted the purpose of IPFC and Kerala Single Window Interface for Fast and Transparent (K-SWIFT) in increasing the total number of profitable industrial and service sector ventures in Kozhikode district.

“We have now a fully active Kerala Single Window Interface for Fast and Transparent Clearance (K-SWIFT) system and IPFC will be make it easily available for applicants,” he added.

In the new system, heads of government departments will come under a single panel which will collectively give clearance to projects. The issued licence will be valid for five years.

A number of taluk-level training programmes are also the cards for local self-government officials to popularise IPFC and K-SWIFT services in their area and attract more entrepreneurs.

As of now, there are 11,440 registered successful MSME units functioning under the control of DIC in the district. According to official figures, the total number of jobs generated by these units is 43, 948. Their investment is estimated at Rs819.78 crore.
