MSME voters’ percentage is not very high in Assam and Bihar: Experts

New Delhi, Apr 18 (KNN) Not a very high percentage of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) voters in Bihar and Assam has turnout for the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls, which is being held in 95 seats today across 11 states and Puducherry.

Speaking with KNN India, the Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that approximately 5000-6000 MSMEs turned out for the voting in the five constituencies of the state in the second phase of elections.

Sharing the expectations from the new government, the BCCI spokesperson said “MSMEs in Bihar need technical and financial support along with access to market.”

While according to Ex-President of Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER), not a very high percentage of MSMEs voters turn out in the second phase of elections in the region.

Speaking about the challenges, MSMEs in the north eastern region faces challenges with regard to cost of finance, availability of finance, access to market and competing with others but problems are greater than this.

Earlier we had exclusive industrial policy for north eastern region but later it was revised by new policy that has no match of earlier policy.

So, we want revival of the policy and new government should consider the MSMEs of this region on priority basis, he added.

In the second phase, the polling held in Assam (five seats), Bihar (five seats), Chhattisgarh (three seats), Jammu and Kashmir (two seats), Karnataka (14 seats), Maharashtra (10 seats), Manipur (one seat), Odisha (five seats), Tamil Nadu (38 seats), Uttar Pradesh (eight seats), West Bengal (three seats), and Union Territory Puducherry (one seat).
