MSMEs contribute towards 50% of the GDP and 45% exports of Odisha

Jaipur, Feb 25 (KNN) As many as 3.67 lakh recorded Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) contribute towards 50% of the GDP and 45% exports of Odisha, informed LN Gupta, MSME Additional Chief Secretary at a meeting here.

Gupta said that Odisha has 17 lakh farm and non-farm enterprises, including trading business.

He proposed the idea of a MSME park at Kalinganagar and every large industry's support to least 10 MSMEs.

He said the focussed sectors in the State for MSMEs are food processing, chemicals and petrochemicals, textile, electronics, ancillary and downstream.

Procurement heads from the Tata Steel, VISA Steel, Balasore Alloys Ltd, Jindal Stainless Ltd and Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd who were present at the meeting gave their respective presentations and invited MSMES and start-ups to explore opportunities with them. (KNN/JM)
