MSMEs in Punjab calls off strike against power pricing as government begin talks

New Delhi, Dec 22 (KNN) The announced hunger strike protesting the irregularities of power pricing in the state of Punjab has been called off following the government assuring the industrial sector along with the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises that their demands are taken well into consideration.

Talking to KNN, Badish Jindal, President of FOPSIA informed of the latest development in the controversy around the power tariffs.

Jindal said that earlier the industry planned to call for a strike on 21st December against the failure of the government in implementing the promised reduced price rate.

Also the industry is upset over the retrospective pricing that the industry was being asked to pay, whereas the fault was on the power department’s end.

Following the call for strike, the government assured the industrial sector that it is going to slash the retrospective pricing by fifty per cent, colluding with the demand of the industry.

Also it has assured that it is taking into consideration the other related demands and action will be taken soon in that regard.

The government also assured that the reduced price on power is in its final phase and is likely to be implemented soon. (KNN/ DA)
